"There are years that ask questions and years that answer."  Write a speculative response on what the upcoming year will hold for Janie.  Will this year be the year that asks questions or one that answers them?  Will this be the year that does both?

This upcoming year will be a year of both questions and answers, becuase she just leaves her husband for a man she has only know for a week. This will bring up questions with the old husband about why she left and where did she go. Janie is hoping this would be her answer to the hole in her marrige. This will also show her if she made the right choice to follow her dreams.

Is it normal to keep your feelings hidden from your spouse?

A marriage should not be filled with secrets, but is it a bad thing to hide your feelings from your spouse. Some people might say it is a bad thing to hide your feelings from your spouse, but I disagree. I think it is reasonable for some to hide their feelings. If a man knows something bad is going to happen he should be able to hide his feelings of fear to let his wife think nothing is wrong. If he does not hide his fear, they will both start to panic. It is necessary for a person to hide their feelings about something if it is to make sure their spouse does not feel scared or feel like they are going through a bad time.

What is Gatsby's true background? Did Nick ever go to the war? How much are the pearls worth in today's currency? How did Mrytle explain the broken nose?

Town Tattle

The apartment was on the top floor--
a small living room,
a small dining room,
a small bedroom...

The living room... crowded
a set of tapestried furinture entirely too large...
the only picture... a hen sitting on a blurred rock.
From a distance... the countenance of a stout old lady beamed down into the room.

Old copies of "Town Tattle" lay on the table...
a reluctant elevator boy...
a box full of straw and some milk...
large dog biscuits... decomposed apthetically in the suacer of milk...

The Sad Truth

Since the dawn of man, people have been judging others based only on their appearance. Romans use to leave a baby to die if it looked like it had any deformities. Some people might try to say they don't judge people on how they look, but more often than not they do. I know I have judged people by the way they look. Sometimes the people we judge are actually good people, but we don't give them a chance to show us what they are really like. I have become real good friends with people that I would not have hung around if they were not friends of my friends. There are also some people that look very innocent on the outside, but they might be doing a lot of bad things and just never got caught. If people were just judge by what they have done and not how they look, the world would be a much better place. There are a lot of people that get passed up for something they might have been really good at, but since they didn't look the part they were not given a chance. It just goes to show that old cliché is true; you can't judge a book by its cover. In the future my significant other's looks and amount of money will not matter. What will matter is if she is a nice person and we both respect each other.

Assimilation

The United States of America is a country made up of many different cultures and races. It is almost impossible to find someone that strictly sticks to their own culture. As people grow older they start to adapt to the ideas and culture of the people they hang around with. This is called assimilation. Some say assimilation is a good because everyone is able to learn other people’s cultures and understand them better, while other people would go as far as to call people traitors to the culture. Whether or not assimilation is bad to someone’s culture is up to what you believe in. As for Beneatha in “A Raisin In The Sun” assimilation is already in progress through her life. She is trying to become a doctor, so she can get further in life, but she also wants to try and learn more about where she came from. She was going against the normal of what girls would do, not to be rebellious, but to achieve what people had showed her was the best thing. She wants to find the balanced between her culture and what would be an American dream. It’s hard to decide what is better for you because with either choice there is something to be lost.

Who's more important me or my family

Most people have little moments when they like to do things that benefit themselves without thinking of how it will affect others. For example sometimes I would go places with my friends without seeing if my parents need me to be home quickly to take care of my brother and sister. But if asked what’s more important to me, my family or myself, I would say my family. Even though some people in my family bug me, I don’t think I could stand to live a day without anyone of them. They mean the world to me; I hope to get rich just so I could get anything my family members want for them. I want to do this, because when I think of all the things they have done for me compared to what I have done for them I do not even come close. Even though it seems like my parents are just being mean by making me do my work, I know they are just trying to help me get good grades so I can have a better future. I love spending time with my family even when it’s just sitting down and watching TV together. It is very hard for me to imagine trying to live thinking only about myself after all my family has done for me. So, when asked what is more important to me, me or my family, my answer will always and without a doubt be my family.

The American Dream

The American dream is to be free to do whatever you want and to get rich. Many immigrants come to the United States in pursuit of the American dream, because for them it’s a chance to start over and a way to make a lot of money so they can support their families. Without dreams life would be boring and nobody would strive to do better. My dream is to graduate from college and then work as a game or software designer. I want to do this because it is easy to make money by selling games and I also like using computers and games. I also want to be able to buy my parents lots of land, whatever type of house they want, and any kind of car they want. I want to be able to never have to worry about bills. I hope I will never give up on my dreams.
